Daughter of acclaimed music director Ilaiyaraaja and playback singer Bhavatharini passed away on Thursday. The 47-year-old was undergoing treatment for liver cancer and passed away in Sri Lanka.
According to media reports, she was undergoing Ayurvedic treatment for cancer in Sri Lanka.
Her mortal remains will be brought to Chennai on Friday.
Times of India reported that Ilaiyaraaja too is in Sri Lanka where he was supposed to perform this weekend.
Bhavatharini won the National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer in 2000 for the song 'Mayil Pola Ponnu Onnu' from the movie Bharathi. The song was composed by her father.
