The trailer for The Archies, one of the most anticipated movies is out. The teaser was released in launched on 18 June 2023 at the Tudum 2023 event in Sao Paulo. The cast announcement was released in May 2022.

The movie marks the debut of a few star kids--- Agastya Nanda, the grandson of actor Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan's daughter Suhana Khan, and Khushi Kapoor, the daughter of Boney Kapoor and Sridevi.

The two songs, which were released before the trailer-- 'Va Va Voom' and 'Sunoh', created a buzz around the live-action 60s-inspired musical. The trailer itself, however, falls flat. The gang coming together to save a local park, seems just like another Riverdale episode, sans mystery, gory murder and sex. Archies has been directed by Zoya Akhtar under the Tiger Baby production banner.

Also starring Vedang Raina, Mihir Ahuja, Yuvraj Menda, and Aditi ‘Dot’ Saigal,  the trailer begins with a shot showing the town of Riverdale, with the narrative that builds up to the probablity of the story unfolding amidst an Anglo-Indian community. Then, there are elements like a love triangle and a high school band. But, the trailer probably won't impress the hard-core fans who grew up reading the comics. It may not even enthral the youngsters, who have watched Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa's Riverdale. It probably will appeal to current-gen teens, who have just been initiated into the world of Archies.

Twitter, or X users had a better measure of the teaser, when it released in June. While some users called it a Myntra autumn sale ad, another commented, “Oh wow South Bombay kids pretending to be white people So exciting.” And another user had commented, “A combination of: Instagram stories from rich kid's aesthetic 21st birthday party + ad for H&M's new retro collection + Pinterest moodboard of that one friend whose parents wouldn't let them go to NIFT + that one guy with the Bhagyaraj-style beret.”

We think the comments apply to the trailer too.
