Israeli actor Lior Raz, best known for essaying undercover agent Doron in television series Fauda, has joined Israel's fight against Hamas. The actor, who joined hands with a group of volunteers called 'Brothers in Arms', took to social media to share a video of him witnessing a rocket attack by Hamas.

“... I headed down south to join hundreds of brave 'brothers in arms' volunteers who worked tirelessly to assist the population in the south of Israel. We were sent to the bombarded town of Sderot to extract 2 families,” Raz posted on social media platform X. Raz was accompanied by president of the Israel Democracy Institute, Yohanan Plesner, and journalist Avi Yissascharov.

Fauda, an Israeli television series streaming on Netflix, is loosely based on the experiences of the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF). Developed by Raz and Yissascharov, the series draws on their experiences with the IDF. The show was also officially adapted into Hindi—Tanaav, streaming on SonyLiv.

Condemning the offensive in an earlier post, Raz urged the world to remember that Israelis “go into this war with a heavy heart, with no desire to kill innocents.”

The total death toll in the deadly attack has neared 1,600, according to reports on Tuesday morning. In a surprise attack on Saturday, Hamas militants breached Israeli security and launched a deadly attack from the Gaza strip. Over 200 people were gunned down at a desert music festival, and over 100 people, including foreign nationals, are being held hostage by Hamas militants. Israel, which has officially declared war, retaliated with airstrikes on Gaza.

According to latest reports, the Israeli Army claimed that around 1,500 dead bodies of Hamas operatives have been recovered from around the Gaza strip.
