Actress Nayanthara, who was last seen in Bollywood blockbuster Jawan, is reportedly in talks with filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali for his next project Baiju Bawra. Though she has not signed on the dotted line yet, multiple reports state she is considering the offer to play a pivotal role in the film.
Nayanthara was also spotted at the veteran filmmaker's office earlier this year, with her husband Vignesh Shivn. According to a report by Film Companion, Baiju Bawra was originally made in 1952. The original version directed by Vijay Bhatt featured Bharat Bhushan and Meena Kumari in the lead.
It is being speculated that Bhansali's version will feature Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the lead. The period saga revolves around Baiju, a young singer who challenges the legendary Tansen to a musical competition.
While Ranveer has previously collaborated with the ace filmmaker for Bajirao Mastani, Padmaavat and Goliyon ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, Alia teamed up with Bhansali for the National Award-winning Gangubai Kathiawadi.
Ranveer and Alia were last seen together in filmmaker Karan Johar's romantic drama Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani.
Nayanthara, who made her Bollywood debut with Jawan, was reportedly upset with director Atlee for 'cutting down' her role in the Shah Rukh-Khan starrer to give more prominence to Deepika Padukone. According to earlier reports, she was unlikely to sign new Bollywood projects soon.
