A man was attacked in a theatre in Hyderabad that was screening Prabhas-starrer Adipurush, for unknowingly occupying the seat reserved for Lord Hanuman.
According to media reports, the incident took place at Bhramarabha theatre in Hyderabad. In a video that has gone viral, a group of moviegoers can be seen roughing up a man and hurling abuses at him.
"A person was attacked by Prabhas fans for sitting in a seat allocated to Lord Hanuman in Bramarambha theatre Hyderabad in the early hours of this morning," a Twitter user wrote, sharing a video clip of the incident.
Theatre staff stepped in to diffuse the situation.
Director of the movie Om Raut had requested producers and distributors of Adipurush to ensure that every theatre leave one empty seat for Lord Hanuman.
Adipurush, a retelling of the epic Ramayana, starring Kriti Sanon, Sunny Singh, Devdatta Nage, and Saif Ali Khan apart from Prabhas, was released on Friday.
Theatre owners said the response to the movie has been beyond expectations.
