'Anupamaa' actor Nitesh Pandey passes away at 51

Just as the television industry grapples with the loss of two actors—Aditya Singh Rajput and Vaibhavi Upadhyaya—the death of another prominent actor has come as a shock. Anupamaa actor Nitesh Pandey, who played the character of Dheeraj Kapoor in the hit show, has passed away due to cardiac arrest. He was 51.

According to Times of India, the actor suffered a cardiac arrest at about 2am near Nashik on Wednesday. Pandey was found unconscious in his hotel room and later declared dead before admission at the hospital. Police said preliminary investigation revealed that Pandey had ordered some food. The hotel staff got suspicious when the actor didn't open the door after the hotel staff knocked several times, the official said.

Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit remembered Pandey as a "brilliant actor and a fun loving person".

Nitesh is known for playing Shah Rukh Khan's assistant in 'Om Shanti Om, and known for his roles in many popular television shows. He was last seen in Anupamaa and Pyar Ka Dard Hai Meetha Meetha Pyara Pyara.

The last rites of the actor will be held in Mumbai. Nitesh is survived by his wife Arpita and a son.
