Multiverse fantasy Everything Everywhere All at Once dominated the 95th Academy Awards on Monday as the team walked away with seven awards including best picture, best director and best actress. With 11 nods, the film was the most nominated film this year.

Everything Everywhere All at Once’s Michelle Yeoh became only the second woman of colour to be recognised as best actress. The directing duo of Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, both of them 35-year-old, were the youngest and the and least experienced filmmakers in the group of nominees that included Steven Spielberg (The Fabelmans) Ruben Ostlund (Triangle of Sadness), Todd Field (Tar) and Martin McDonagh (The Banshees of Inisherin). Kwan becomes the third winner of Asian descent to win a directing Oscar.

This year’s best picture nominees included several popular favourites like Top Gun: Maverick and Avatar: The Way of Water.
