As we wrap up November and head towards the last month of the year, let us take a quick look at the new movies and shows arriving on streaming platforms this week. While Christmas movies form a part of the lineup, Bollywood films Freddy and Qala also arrive this week. Qala marks the acting debut of Babil Khan, son of late Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan.

Qala: Netflix

Release date: December 1

The psychological thriller featuring Tripti Dimri is set in Kolkata in the 1940s. Described as the story of a young playback singer, the film is about her tragic past and how it catches up with her when she is at the peak of hard-earned success. Directed by Anvitaa Dutta and produced by Clean Slate Filmz, Qala also features Babil Khan, Swastika Mukherjee, Amit Sial among others.

Troll: Netflix

Release date: December 1

The Norwegian horror film revolves around a paleontologist's fight to stop an ancient troll from wreaking deadly havoc. The spin-off of Scandinavian folklore, Troll brings to life an ancient beast in a story set in contemporary Norway.

Goodbye: Netflix

Release date: December 2

The family drama which released in theatres in October is a heartwarming tale of the Bhalla family's journey after they suffer the loss of their loved one. Starring Amitabh Bachchan, Neena Gupta and Rashmika Mandanna, the film also features Pavail Gulati, Elli Avram and Sunil Grover among others.

Freddy: Disney plus Hotstar

Release date: December 2

The Kartik Aaryan-fronted thriller is set to for a direct OTT release. Directed by Shashanka Ghosh, the film revolves around a timid dentist who turns into a killer at night. Aaryan had said he got a chance to explore a new avatar with Freddy.

Lady Chatterley's Lover: Netflix

Release date: December 2

An adaptation of D.H. Lawrence's steamy novel by the same name, the film features Emma Corrin, Jack O' Connell and Mathew Duckett in the lead. One of the most anticipated releases this week, the Netflix film marks the book's first feature-length adaptation in over two decades. First published on 1928, the book was labelled “obscene” for its open discussion about female sexuality and pleasure, and hence banned in the UK.

India Lockdown: ZEE5

Release date: December 2

Inspired by true events, the Madhur Bhandarkar-directorial follows the stories of four people and how the Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdown affected their lives. Prateik Babbar essays a migrant worker in the film. India Lockdown also features Aahana Kumra, Shweta Basu Prasad, and Sai Tamhankar.

Scrooge: A Christmas Carol – Netflix

Release date: December 2

The animated musical retelling of Charles Dickens' classic revolves around the miser Ebenezer Scrooge who gets one last chance to fix the mistakes of his past. With actor Luke Evans voicing Scrooge, the musical features Olivia Colman as The Ghost of Christmas Past.

Moving in with Malaika: Disney plus Hotstar

Actress-model Malaika Arora will make her OTT debut with the show that gives a sneak peek into her life. The show based on her life will see appearances from her family members and close friends, enabling fans to catch a glimpse of the star's past and present through unfiltered conversations.
