A day after Film Exhibitors United Organisation of Kerala (FEUOK) decided to boycott the movies of actor Dulquer Salmaan following his decision release his latest outing, Salute, produced by Wayfarer Films, on OTT, media reports suggest that Mammootty's new movie Puzhu might be heading to an OTT platform.

Wayfarer Films is owned by Salmaan.

Salute, directed by Rosshan Andrrews, was scheduled to be released in cinemas on January. However, in the wake of a surge in Covid-19 cases, the release was delayed.

FEUOK claimed that the production house had entered into an agreement with the forum to release the movie in threatres and said this was not being honoured.

Now, a day after the ban, reports suggests that the upcoming release of Mammootty, Puzhu, directed by newcomer Ratheena will be released on SonyLiv. The date of release will be announced in the coming days.

Puzhu is touted as a crime thriller also featuring Parvathy Thiruvothu in the lead. Nedumudi Venu, Athmiya Rajan, and Malavika Menon play important roles in the movie, which is also produced by Wayfarer films.

This is for the first time Mammootty is playing the lead in a movie helmed by a female director.
