Tel Ganesan’s take on being a Tech Moghul to a Film Producer

Tel Ganesan, who comes from a humble background, has risen to prominence in the IT field and is poised to dominate the film industry. Movies, in whatever language, are accessible to everyone. It's a media that recounts previously untold stories, draws people together at gatherings, and leaves an indelible impact on the brains of its viewers. Each year, about 3000 films are produced, with a global revenue of $42.5 billion USD in 2019. With an average of 1500 films made each year in various languages; India is at the top of the list.

"While movies have always captivated me, I never saw myself producing them. However, when life hands you lemons, you take them and make the best of them, and that is precisely what I did," says Tel when asked how a technologist like him got into the movie business. He recalls that "Fast and Furious 7," which received the greatest box office gross of the entire franchise, received a positive reception from the Indian public as well. The death of Paul Walker was widely grieved by Indian audiences, demonstrating the emotional bond that Indians share with cinema."

Tel Ganesan is quick to point out that international film producers see India solely as a market, but ignore Indian talent, which is a sad fact.  Koreans and the Chinese are demonstrating their prowess in world cinema by releasing films such as parasite, which has received numerous prizes on the international arena. Apart from A R Rehman's appearance at the Oscars, Indian talent and cinema are not as well-known as they should be, according to Tel Ganesan, who wants to include versatility and new talent in the films he is producing. Tel Ganesan, who has four unreleased films in the works, adds, "I'm doing my share in getting fledgling and emerging performers from India to be a part of Hollywood films."
