Shilpa Shetty’s husband Raj Kundra was arrested by the Mumbai Police on Monday in a pornography case, and has been remanded to judicial custody till July 23. As Kundra was named ‘key conspirator’ in the case, questions arose of Shilpa’s involvement in the racket.
So far, the police officials have not found any evidence about her involvement, according to reports. Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime), Milind Bharambe shared in a statement, “We have not been able to any find any active role (of Shilpa Shetty) yet.”
Shilpa, who is one of the judges of dance reality show Super Dance 4, did not turn up for the show's shoot after her husband’s arrest. According to reports, Karishma Kapoor will step in instead as a celebrity guest judge.
The police said they have seized Kundra's mobile phone and its contents need to be scrutinised and also his business dealings and transactions have to be looked into. The police have also seized evidence regarding a WhatsApp group allegedly created by Kundra specifically regarding payments for a porn film. Apart from Kundra, the police also produced before the court another accused, Ryan Thorpe, who too was arrested in the case on Monday.
Actress-model Poonam Pandey,who had filed a theft case against Kundra in 2020 also reacted to his arrest in the porn film racket case. In February 2020, Poonam filed a case against Kundra when the latter allegedly illegally used her content from her mobile app despite the termination of contract between the two of them. “At this moment my heart goes out to Shilpa Shetty and her kids. I can’t imagine what she must be going through,” she said in a statement. Poonam and Sherlyn Chopra, who have worked in the adult film industry, have blamed Kundra for their entry into the adult film industry.
