The Mumbai Police on Monday revealed details of its ongoing investigation into the alleged suicide of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput on June 14.

The Mumbai Police probe has been heavily criticised by the BJP and in Bihar, Sushant Singh Rajput's home state.

Speaking to mediapersons, Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh was quoted by ANI as saying, "During the probe, we found he [Sushant] had Rs 18 crore in account of which around Rs 4.5 crore are still there. Till now, no direct transfer to Rhea Chakraborty's account found." Param Bir Singh added the Mumbai Police was continuing to probe the use of Sushant's account. An FIR filed by the Bihar Police had claimed Rs 15 crore had been siphoned off from Sushant's account, with the finger of suspicion being pointed at Rhea, Sushant’s girlfriend.

Param Bir Singh said, "Till now, statements of 56 people have been recorded, all angles are being investigated be it a professional rivalry, financial transactions or health."

Param Bir Singh noted, "Rhea Chakroborty was one of the 56 people questioned by Mumbai Police. Her statement was recorded twice and she was called to the police station several times." He added he could not comment about her whereabouts.

Responding to claims Sushant Singh Rajput's family was unhappy with the Mumbai Police's probe, the police chief noted, "Sushant's father, sister and brother-in-law's statements were recorded on June 16. At that moment, they didn't raise any suspicion neither they complained about any lapse in our investigation."

"It has come to surface that he had bipolar disorder, he was undergoing treatment and taking medicines for it. What circumstances led to his death is the subject of our investigation," the Mumbai Police chief said.

Responding to claims of suspicions of political involvement in the Sushant Singh Rajput case, Param Bir Singh said, "No politician's name came up during the investigation. There is no evidence against any politician from any party".

Param Bir Singh dismissed complaints the Mumbai Police was not cooperating with personnel from Bihar, but added the Bihar Police needed to prove they had jurisdiction over the case.
