TikTok star Sachin Tiwari has been roped in to play lead role in the upcoming film inspired by the life of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
The film, titled Suicide or Murder: A Star Was Lost, is being produced by Vijay Sekhar Gupta. The makers on Monday also revealed the first look poster of Sachin Tiwari as ‘The Outsider’. The film is directed by Shamik Maulik.
The first look was posted on the Instagram page of new OTT platform VSG Binge and the caption read as "A boy from small-town became a Shining Star in the film industry. This is his journey. Sachin had trended on social media earlier for his resemblance to Sushant.
“Sushant Singh Rajput’s death by suicide came as a shock to all of us, but it is not new. Many actors who come to the industry to accomplish their dreams of making it big here, end up not getting work. Many take this route, and some keep struggling all their lives. So, we wanted to tell a story of how actors from small towns, who don’t have godfathers in Bollywood, struggle. We will be revealing other characters one by one. I can assure you that this film will definitely unmask the real face of the insiders of Bollywood,” the Indian Express quoted Gupta as saying.
The film was announced shortly after Sushant died by suicide on June 14, and the makers had clarified that it is not a biopic.
The film is expected to go on floors in mid-September, according to reports.
