Janhvi Kapoor’s film Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl will soon premiere on Netflix. Directed by Sharan Sharma, Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl is the biopic of the former Indian Air Force pilot Gunjan Saxena who played a pivotal role in the Kargil War of 1999.
Sharing the poster on Instagram, Ginjan Saxena wrote a heartfelt post on Janhvi and director Sharan. She wrote, "Very rarely have old memories flashed in front of me in such a sweet manner as was experienced after watching my montage with voice over of Janhvi Kapoor. I guess it is the time for the culmination of an enriching journey which started with Sharan Sharma three years back. And what a journey it has been with Sharan."
She added: “None of life journeys are a walk in park and mine was no different. But at times a one track mind on goal does help. During my tenure in IAF, whatever little I could achieve was with the help of men and women in blue uniform. I sincerely hope everyone will enjoy the movie not because it is my story but more so because of the honest work of Sharan and his team ..”
“Lucky few like me have Sharan and Janhvi to narrate my story,” she wrote in the post.
Presented by Zee Studios and Dharma Productions, the film, also featuring Pankaj Tripathi and Viineet Kumar, was earlier slated to be released on April 24.
There were rumours about the film going for a digital release and now the movie officially joins a list of other Bollywood titles, including Amitabh Bachchan-Ayushmann Khurrana starrer Gulabo Sitabo and Vidya Balan's Shakuntala Devi biopic which are slated to debut on Amazon Prime Video, to directly head to a streamer during the coronavirus pandemic.
