In a long video shared on his social media platforms, actor Salman Khan spoke to people of the importance of staying in during the lockdown.
He started the video by comparing the current scenario to the Bigg Boss show, albeit it is playing out in real life. Salman Khan is at his Panvel farmhouse and has not been able to return to his Mumbai home due to the lockdown. In the video, he said that he and his family members had come to the farmhouse for a two-day vacation.
He narrated an incident where one of his friends who has been staying at the farmhouse stepped out to buy rations, and was confronted by cops on the road.
Salman spoke of the importance of frontline workers including doctors and policemen. He rebuked those who are unleashing violence against cops and healthcare workers, and asked people to be thankful for the services offered. He talked at length and adviced people that this is not the time to show off foolish courage by stepping, and in turn, endangering lives of their dear ones and others. He added that he understands the concerns of the poor who feel compelled to step out to feed their families. Talking about police hitting people roaming on the streets, he said that they will not hit people who will stay at home and not wander uselessly with friends.
Salman has regularly posting videos, highlighting the importance of staying home during the coronavirus pandemic.
Recently Salman Khan initiated the process of transferring funds into the accounts of daily wage workers of the film industry, the Federation of Western Indian Cine Employees (FWICE). The actor had pledged to financially support 25,000 daily wage workers who have been badly hit by the lockdown to contain the coronavirus spread in the country.
According to B.N. Tiwari, FWICE, President, Salman has made an initial payment of Rs 3,000 each to the daily wage workers of the film industry, starting Tuesday.
"We had given him the final list of 23,000 workers so far, who were in dire need of financial help. He is going to transfer money in installments as he doesn''t want people to misuse it. He has transferred about Rs 3,000 to every worker yesterday and he will transfer money again after some time. We are thankful to him for helping our workers," Tiwari said.
