Shah Rukh Khan has been actively contributing to the fight against the coronavirus pandemic. Besides posting awareness videos and busting myths related to the virus, the actor has also pledged to contribute to a variety of initiatives.

And now, the actor and his wife Gauri Khan have offered their four-storey office space to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), to help it expand its quarantine facility in the midst of the coronavirus outbreak. On Saturday, BMC took to Twitter and thanked the couple for their “thoughtful and timely gesture.”

Shah Rukh’s production company Red Chillies Entertainment tweeted: “Support makes everyone stronger. And in our fight against COVID-19 we need each other’s support as a society. Let’s help each other more, and win this fight collectively!”

Sharing the official statement by Red Chillies, Gauri Khan wrote on Friday: “In these trying times keeping our distance from each other does not mean distancing ourselves from the well being of each other. Whatever best we individually try, may not be enough, but together if we all do our bit, we can overcome this crisis. Stay Safe, Stay Healthy.”

Shah Rukh’s IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders and his Meer Foundation have also joined the fight. "Given the enormity of the task, my team and I discussed ways to contribute in our modest way. We have come up with a series of initiatives, which we hope will make a small difference. The efforts of our prime minister, coupled with the efforts of the chief minsters....have been commendable in fighting this pandemic. We have initially focused our efforts on the three cities—Mumbai, Kolkata and New Delhi— with the realisation that this is a start and we stand ready to contribute whichever way possible going forward," Khan had said in a statement earlier this week.

His companies will contribute to PM CARES fund and Maharashtra Chief Minister's Relief Fund. Besides, he had also extended support to healthcare workers and said KKR and Meer Foundation will work with the West Bengal and Maharashtra governments and contribute 50,000 personal protective equipment kits.

Other announcements made by the actor are working with Ek Saath-The Earth Foundation to provide daily food to over 5,500 families in Mumbai and setting up a kitchen to send out 2,000 freshly cooked meas every day.

Meer Foundation will also work with Roti Foundation to provide three lakh meal kits. The foundation, in association with Working People's Charter, will also provide basic essentials and grocery items for at least a month to over 2,500 daily wage workers who have been identified across Delhi.
