Kerala is on the edge as more and more positive cases of coronavirus are being reported. As on Wednesday, the coastal state has a total of 14 positive cases, with 1,495 people under quarantine. This is excluding the three Covid-19 patients who have been cured and discharged. 

With more cases emerging, the Kerala government is on an all-out war against the dreadful virus. Almost all social media influencers' posts are now on precautionary steps to be followed to check the spread of the coronavirus. One of the top trending videos on social media currently is a 'coronavirus awareness video' by the Kerala police. 

The video has the signature "troll" touch of the Kerala police. Narrated in the popular "Bellary Raja" slang, influenced by the character played by Mammootty in the 2005 box office hit Rajamanikyam, the video features popular movie roles of Mammootty and Mohanlal to Tamil stars Rajinikanth and Vijay. Through a dubbed voice, the characters advise people on various precautionary measures such as frequently washing hands, use of sanitizers and face mask, covering one's face while sneezing and coughing, and self-quarantine in case of any severe symptoms. 

The video was uploaded on Friday soon after Covid-19 re-emerged in Kerala. However, with the state coming to a near shut down after more cases were reported on Tuesday, the video has assumed significance and hence, found more takers. 

The social media handles of Kerala police are quite popular for the witty content and tongue-in-cheek responses. It has more than 1.3 million followers on Facebook alone.

In an attempt to stop the coronavirus, the Kerala government has curbed public functions and shut all schools, colleges and movie theatres till March 31. Stepping up efforts to check the spread of coronavirus, the Kerala government has sent at least 45 people who returned from Covid-19 hit Italy to various health facilities on Wednesday. The government decided to scale up efforts after three of a family from Pathanamthitta district returned from Italy on February 29.
