The first look of actor Arvind Swami as MG Ramachandran in Jayalalithaa biopic Thalaivi is out. Fondly known as MGR, the late film icon also served as Tamil Nadu's chief minister. A mentor figure to Jayalalithaa, he formed the AIADMK and also enjoyed a demi-god status in the state.

Taking to Twitter, Arvind Swami shared the first look poster and also a teaser.

Directed by A.L. Vijay, the multilingual film will see Kangana Ranaut as Jayalalithaa. In her first look that was released earlier, Kangana goes through tremendous transformation as she portrays the younger days of Jayalalithaa as an actress, and later her days as a powerful politician and chief minister of the state. The film's screenplay is by Baahubali fame Vijeyendra Prasad.

Hollywood prosthetics expert Jason Collins of Captain Marvel-fame has worked on Kangana’s look in Thalaivi. In an official statement, Kangana had earlier said: “Jayalalithaaji is one of the biggest female success stories of this century. She was a superstar and went on to become an iconic politician, it’s a great concept for a mainstream film. I am honoured to be a part of this mega project.”

Director A.L. Vijay said: “Jayalalithaa madam was one of the most prominent leaders of our country. Making a film on= her life is a big responsibility and we are going to do it with utmost care and honesty. Am proud and happy with our association with one of India’s biggest star and the very talented Kangana Ranaut ji to portray the dynamic role of our very dynamic leader.”

Thalaivi also features Priyamani as Sasikala.
