Malayalam actor Shane Nigam is in a tight spot due to his ongoing tiff with a producer over his change in hairstyle. As the controversy gathers steam, Mollywood's producers' body Kerala Film Producers Association announced that they will ban the actor. Announcing the decision at a press meet on Thursday, the members said that two of the actor's ongoing projects—Veyil and Qurbaani—will be scrapped. They also added that the Kumbalangi Nights actor will be roped in for further projects only after he settles losses incurred by producers of these two films.
They said that the decision has been conveyed to the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA).
The controversy was kicked off after Shane Nigam went live on social media, speaking to his fans, and alleging death threats from Joby George, producer of film Veyil. In the video, Shane says he is reaching out to fans for the first time because is helpless and has no clue whom to approach. After completing the first schedule of Veyil, produced by Joby, Shane had started work on another film, Qurbaani. For Qurbaani, Shane slightly trimmed his hair. In the Facebook live video, Shane goes on to say that Joby, who saw a photograph of the actor in the new hairdo, started threatening him because he changed his look which he said would affect the continuity of Veyil.
In the midst of patch-up efforts with the film's team, Shane recently posted a photo on his social media account with his tonsured head and beardless face. The photo infuriated the producers of his Veyil, and was seen as many as unprofessional move on behalf of the actor.
