The first transgender candidate in Bigg Boss Telugu may soon be heading for an exit after just two weeks in the Big Boss house, according to reports.
Tamanna Simhadri reportedly has the most votes for eviction, followed by film director Baba Bashkar. Tamanna joined the house as a wild card entry after the first week following the eviction of the actress, Hema.
Tamanna’s two weeks in the house were fraught with friction, as she found herself in numerous altercations with the other house members. Tamanna was seen as ‘bullying’ fellow contestant Ravikrishna, who ultimately nominated her for eviction — a move that saw her promise to make life hell for him in her remaining days on the show.
Tamana also had altercations with Siva Jyoti, and was even warned by host Akineni Nagarjuna along with Rahul for their behaviour.
Tamanna was nominated along with Punarnavi Bhupalam, Rahul Sipligunj, Vithika Sheru and Baba Bhaskar. Twitter mentions of Tamanna were mostly negative, with many calling for a midweek elimination on account of her tendency to insult other house members.
Tamanna is an activist-politician, who became the first transwoman to contest assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh. She ran as an independent candidate from Mangalagiri but lost to YSR Congress’s Alla Ramakrishna Reddy.
She had worked in modelling won the 2010 edition of Miss Transgender Mumbai. Prior to entering the Big Boss House, she had hoped to ”win the hearts of the housemates and the viewers across the Telugu states”.
The Bigg Boss franchise has often invited LGBTQ contestants onto the show, with Bobby Darling being the first to take part in the Hindi edition. Since then, each edition has tried to have at least one contestant from the community. No LGBT contestant has won an edition of Bigg Boss in India so far.
Gay and lesbian contestants have won two editions of Big Brother franchise in the United States. The UK edition has also had winners from the community.
The latest episode of Bigg Boss Telugu 3 will air at 8pm on Star Maa. The show just concluded its third week, with an estimated nine weeks left to go.
