Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh unveiled the first look of himself as Kapil Dev in his upcoming film '83. His uncanny similarity to the cricketing champ has taken social media by storm. It is also happens to be Ranveer Singh's birthday, and this is a fitting treat for his fans.
"On my special day, here's presenting the Haryana hurricane, Kapil Dev,” he captioned the post. Helmed by Kabir Khan, the film follows the life of Kapil Dev as the Indian cricket team's captain and the historic win of the team at the 1983 cricket World Cup.
Ranveer Singh has been taking training sessions and interacting with Kapil Dev to emulate his body language and learn the intricacies of his persona in the biopic. "I'm keen on getting tips on my bowling and batting from the man himself. His achievements are extraordinary. He is the quintessential underdog who became a champion through perseverance, self-belief, hard-work and a positive mindset," Ranveer had said earlier.
The film is scheduled to hit screens in April next year.
Besides Ranveer Singh, the film also features Tahir Raj Bhasin, Pankaj Tripathi, R. Badree, Chirag Patil, Ammy Virk among others. Deepika Padukone will essay the role of Kapil Dev's wife Romi.
