Days after the trailer for Bigg Boss Telugu Season 3 dropped on the Star Maa Twitter handle, speculation is rife that the host for this year’s season will be none other than season television host Akkineni Nagarjuna.

While Star Maa have neither confirmed nor denied the actor-producers involvement, many are certain that he will host the show, with Sakshi TV citing “sources”. Nagarjuna has not issued any statement, clarification, or denial on his Twitter page.
Bigg Boss Telugu is a massively-popular reality TV show, a regional adaptation of the original format by the Dutch show Big Brother. The Bigg Boss franchise began in India with Bigg Boss Hindi in 2006, which since expanded to have Kannada, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi and Malayalam adaptations.
Nagarjuna, who is followed by prime minister Narendra Modi on Twitter, had earlier hosted the Telugu edition of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), Meelo Evaru Koteeswarudu (MEC), where he was on board for the first three seasons until 2017. Before that, he was famous for his work in movies such as Annamayya, Agni Varsha, LOC Kargil, Sri Ramadasu, Rajanna, Shirdi Sai, Jagadguru Adi Sankara, Hathiram Bhavaji, and Om Namo Venkatesaya.
Bigg Boss Telugu Season 3 had attracted controversy last year over an alleged bias of its host Nani (Naveen Babu Ghanta). Nani known for joking with the housemates, attracted the ire of many viewers after he was seen to be “harsh” towards one housemate. However, Nani responded to criticism in a statement, saying he was neutral towards all candidates and that it would not be possible to please everyone given that every audience member would have their own favourites.
Several other candidates to host the show have reportedly refused the offer, such as Udaya Bhanu, Rashmi Gauatam and Jwala Gutta. One person, Renu Desai, who was speculated to join the show as a housemate, outright denied having any interest in doing so. However, she said that she would not mind being the host of the show.
Bigg Boss Season 3 is expected to air in July this year.
