Bigg Boss Kannada Season 12 has ended abruptly after the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) sealed the set in Bidadi, Ramanagara, over violations of environmental and land-use regulations.

This will be the first time that Bigg Boss Kannada was halted midway in its 12-year history. It has been filmed on a the custom-built set in the location for several years. Bigg Boss Kannada Season 12 hosted by Kichcha Sudeep had just entered its second week.

The KSPCB authorities have locked the gates after escorting the contestants out of the premises of Jollywood Studio. KSPCB carried out a surprise inspection and discovered that the area was used for large-scale filming without mandatory permissions.

Vel Studios and Entertainment Pvt Ltd, which manages the Bigg Boss Kannada set, was issued a closure notice, which pointed out violations under the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollutions) Act, 1981.

The order stated that the "said premises are being operated without valid Consent for Establishment and Consent for Operation" under the two laws.

The copies of the closure order were sent to the Ramanagara district deputy commissioner, BESCOM managing director and Ramanagara taluk executive engineer and assistant executive engineer (electrical)
