Dia Mirza, who was last seen in Sanju and is now gearing up for the release of a web series titled Kaafir, recently said art always suffers at the hands of fear. “I believe that these prejudices that have been imposed on us, not just take us away from our neighbours, it takes us away from ourselves,” she was quoted as saying.
In the wake of the Pulwama attacks in which 40 soldiers were martyred, Pakistani actors were banned from working in Indian movies. Dia Mirza, who plays a Pakistani in the web series, said, “When we deny ourselves the opportunity to communicate and exchange... we are only expressing to the world how fearful we are,” according to media reports.
The actor said prejudices create divisions."They fundamentally rob us of our true spirit which is love," she said.
Kaafir is based on the life and struggle of a Pakistani woman and her daughter who crossed over to India and are held prisoners. Speaking about the series, the actor said theme of Kaafir is so powerful that it will transcend all barriers.
Kaafir is scheduled to be launched on ZEE5 on June 15.
