GoT fans are merciless when it comes to spoilers. No matter how much ever you try to avoid it, you will surely get to know the story if by any chance you could not catch up with the telecast.

What people do and want to do after watching Game of Thrones is talk about it. GoT fans love to dissect what happened and then theorise what is going to happen in the series. Fan theories and memes about the series have been flooding social media and the internet for years now. GoT spoilers were also famous over the years for ruthlessly spoiling the fun for others. So, fans could not really control themselves from spoiling the fun for others. But this time it all got a lot more interesting. It seems that the memes are getting cleverer this time. GoT fans have finally decided to follow the ‘Spoilers Without Context’ trend.

Game of Thrones has a huge fan following around the globe and India, too, boasts of a strong fan base. But when episode 2 of season 8, ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ reached Germany through Amazon Prime way before it reached India and other countries, fans were in dread for fear of spoilers. Season 8 is the most anticipated season of the series and fans were ready at hand with many theories and interpretation for what is going to hit the screen in this closing season. So, one would surely not want to spoil it for oneself.

This season, fans and fan pages on Instagram, Twitter and other social networking sites started posting ‘Spoilers Without Context’ about new GoT episodes. Fans posted a collage of images totally unrelated to the series, but with the content enough to summarise the important happenings of the episodes. The catch here is that only the ones who watched the episode would be able to make sense of the content.

No fan would mind a Joey Tribbiani of F.R.I.E.N.D.S. drinking milk in a GoT spoiler meme, nor would they mind a flying Dumbo image on the spoiler. It will not spoil the story for fans unless they know how the images relate to the second and first episode of the eighth season. F.R.I.E.N.D.S. and Black Panther fans would actually enjoy the new GoT memes with their favourite characters on. One may also find the minions getting knighted or SpongeBob and his friends sitting around the fire.

The fun is double this time. Foremost, the fans get to talk about the episodes that are telecast and interpret the upcoming episode without spoiling the fun for others. And second, the process is getting more creative and interesting when fans are creating memes without context and people are trying hard to figure out what it means. So, now that the ‘Long Night’ is over, there are more interesting things to unwrap before the final battle for the Iron Throne.
