Tamil actor Vijay's Diwali release, Sarkar, which opened to packed audiences, seems to have irked the ruling AIADMK government in Tamil Nadu. According to reports, a minister has asked for the removal of a scene from the film, which is packaged with many punch dialogues and political events in the state.

Minister Kadambur Raju demanded removal of 'politically-motivated' scenes, especially one which shows the public throwing freebies given by the Tamil Nadu government into the fire. The minister has urged the film's makers to delete the scenes voluntarily, and warned of action otherwise. The A.R. Murugadoss directorial, revolves around an NRI corporate who comes to India to cast his vote, and the apathy of the political system. The film which also features Varalaxmi Sarathkumar and Keerthy Suresh, has been receiving positive reviews.

The film which released in over 3,000 screens across the world, has taken the box office by storm.

This is not the first time that a Vijay film has angered politicians. Vijay's previous outing, Mersal, had irked BJP leaders over several dialogues criticising the GST.
