The media and public relations wing for the armed forces of Pakistan, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), announced that the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has successfully conducted the flight test of Taimoor weapon system, in what it claims is a "significant milestone" for the country's aerospace and defence capabilities.

The announcement of the test comes days after India has been carrying out some key trials, including the user evaluation trials of the next-generation Akash missile system, test of the nuclear-capable K-4 submarine-launched ballistic missile, first flight test of the Pinaka long-range guided rocket and test-firing two Pralay missiles in quick succession.
According to ISPR, the Taimoor air-launched cruise missile is capable of engaging land and sea targets with high precision at a range of 600 kilometres, carrying a conventional warhead.

Designed to fly at very low altitudes to evade air and missile defence systems of the adversary, it is equipped with a highly advanced navigation and guidance system.
The precision-strike capability system, according to ISPR, boosts the conventional deterrence and operational flexibility of the Pakistan Air Force.
The successful flight test of the indigenously developed 'Taimoor' weapon system underscores the technical maturity, innovation and self-reliance achieved by Pakistan’s defence industry, ISPR claimed.
Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari said the test has “further strengthened national defence and bolstered Pakistan’s responsible defence policy for ensuring stability in the region."
