The Indian Army's Spear Corps joined hands with paramilitary forces and the Arunachal Pradesh Police Department to conduct a civil-military preparedness drill in the northeastern state. Named 'Exercise Samanjasya', the civil administrations of Lohitpur in Namsai district and Roing in Lower Dibang Valley district also supported the successful completion of the drill.
The primary objective of 'Exercise Samanjasya' was strengthening cooperation and response capabilities of the armed forces, administration, and civilians in the strategically important state, a Defence Ministry official said on Tuesday. Such drills are vital in developing an integrated approach to security management, resource optimisation, and joint operational readiness, the official was quoted as telling news agency PTI.
Spear Corps, or the III Corps of the Indian Army, headquartered in Nagaland's Dimapur, is tasked with protecting the India-China border in Arunachal Pradesh and overall operational duties in the Northeast. The name comes from its original role in counter-insurgency operations in the region and its mission to act as a "spearhead", a report said.
