As Bengaluru is gearing up for the biennial air show and aviation exhibition, Aero India 2025, organised by the Defence Exhibition Organisation, Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence, the city's Urban Deputy Commissioner G. Jagadeesh instructed officials to ensure all disaster management preparedness measures are in place.
Aero India 2025 will be held from February 10 to 14 at the Yelahanka Air Force Station. The first three days of the event are dedicated to business visitors, while the last two days are open to the general public.
Chairing the preliminary meeting for Aero India, Jagadeesh instructed officials to ensure that steps are taken to close meat shops in the areas surrounding the airshow venue. This is because non-veg food waste in public places could attract scavenger birds, especially kites, which could lead to potential mid-air accidents.
Jagadeesh said Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), along with concerned gram panchayats or local bodies should take immediate action to prevent solid waste dumping in the nearby areas and ensure that the areas are totally clean to avoid mishaps caused by birds.
Further, he instructed the officials to take action regarding the measures to be taken in emergency situations, including the arrangement of ambulances, food facilities, German tents, helipads, cleanliness, water supply, and crowd control.
Meanwhile, Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) issued an advisory on the revised airspace closure timings when the airshow is on.
On February 5, 6 and 8, airspace closure timings are 9 am to 12 noon and 3 pm to 4.30 pm. On February 7 and 9, it will be closed between 9am and 11am. On February 7, it will also be closed post noon between 3pm to 4.30pm. On February 10, it will be closed at 9am to 11.30am and 2.30pm to 3.30 pm. On February 11 and 12, it will be closed between 12 noon and 2.30pm. On February 13 and 14, it will be closed from 9.30am and 12 noon as well as 2.30pm and 5pm.
