China has reportedly asked tech companies in the country to stop using Nvidia's AI chips.

Chinese internet regulator Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) ordered top Chinese tech companies like Bytedance and Alibaba to stop using Nvidia’s RTX Pro 6000D chips, the Financial Times (FT) reported.

Following the announcement, CEO Jensen Huang said he was "disappointed" by the decision. "We can only be in service of a market if the country wants us to be," CNBC reported Huang's response on the FT report.

The move comes amid the US-China battle over trade and tech. Jensen Huang said he expects to discuss the issue with President Donald Trump at a state banquet hosted by the British government that they'll be attending on Wednesday night, AP reported.

According to CNBC, previously, the U.S. had imposed restrictions on exports of Nvidia’s AI chips to China — including a less powerful server chip called the H20. This was done over national security concerns. However, in August, the White House had announced that the US President Donald Trump and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang had struck a deal under which the firm would receive export licenses in exchange for 15% of Chinese sales of the H20 going to the U.S. government.
