Ultraviolette launched its electric scooter Tesseract on Wednesday, flaunting an impressive 261km range for its 6kWh variant. The Tesseract range officially starts at ₹1.45 lakh, but the first 10,000 buyers get an introductory ex-showroom price tag of ₹1.20 lakh, undercutting its major rival Ather 450X.
According to Ultraviolette, led by founders, Niraj Rajmohan and Narayan Subramaniam, deliveries of Tesseract will begin in the first quarter of 2026.
Ultraviolette, known for its premium electric motorcycles appealing to superbike enthusiasts, operated in 12 cities when last year ended. They have been expanding, and they look to spread to 30 cities in 2025. As one of the market forerunners, Ultraviolette has stayed away from the scooter segment till now, which is ruled by Ola Electric and Ather Energy.
Despite this, by December 2024, Ultraviolette sold more than 1,000 of its F77 Mach 2 electric bike, which starts at ₹2.99 lakh ex-showroom. “2025 is going to be a year of massive scale-up from a commercial availability point of view,” Ultraviolette cofounder, Rajmohan, said back then.
In 2025, the EV maker also looks to enter Europe and other international markets, it then stated.
"We will definitely, in the next two to three years, be present across four or five different product lines in the motorcycle space. The price band will also widen more,” Ultraviolette CEO Narayan Subramaniam said in December. The latest launch is in line with this.
True to the Ultraviolette design DNA, the Tessaract looks sporty. It comes in four colours—pink, black, white, and off-white (”sand”). A windscreen adorns the front of the bike, complementing its LED headlamps and floating DRLs.
The massive 7-inch TFT screen has connected bike integration, navigation, and a volley of software features—rear collision alerts, haptic feedback on handlebars, a wireless phone charger, integrated alerts on mirrors, a new radar system, a dashcam, and more.
On the hardware side, 14-inch wheels and a 34-litre under-seat boot are great additions. The Tesseract reportedly hits 125km top speed on its 20.10hp motor, with a 0-60 time of 2.9 seconds.
Apart from Tesseract and the F77 Mach 2, the company recently announced the Ultraviolette F99 electric bike. The launch is expected in 2025 as well. Ultraviolette also has a dirtbike, Shockwave, starting at ₹1.75 lakh ex-showroom.
