Two years after its launch, Tata Group's superapp Tata Neu went live with its new food delivery category via the government-backed Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) in Delhi-NCR region and Bengaluru.
The online food delivery option is set go live in more Tier 1 cities in the coming week and expand to rest of the country by mid-May.
Currently, the option is available across 540 pincodes in Delhi-NCR and 264 in Bengaluru.
Weeks before venturing into the online food delivery space, the multi-purpose app of the salt-to-steel conglomerate underwent a facelift with new User Interface in March.
Tata Neu was launched on April 7, 2022. The other Tata Group apps leveraging ONDC are online pharmacy 1mg, grocery apps BigBasket and StarQuick.
In a separate development, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is also planning to use ONDC for ticket booking. Since its launch, ONDC has facilitated around 50 million transactions, which are mostly mobility sector. Other categories include food & beverage, fashion, grocery and home & kitchen.
