Veteran investor Madhusudan Kela falls prey to deepfake

Madhusudan-Kela

Businessman and investor Madhusudan Kela appears to be the latest victim of deepfake as he flagged concern over a video being circulated on social media with AI-generated voice-over.

Taking to social media platform X, he warned people against the "fake video."

"This is to inform that a fake video which appears to be AI generated (voiceover on my existing video) is being circulated on various social media sites like Instagram/Fb claiming/false information and promising investment returns," he wrote.

Please note that I have not made any such claims or promises and I do not support these communications, Kela said and added that he is planning to initiate legal action against the deepfake video.

"Request you all to not invest basis such video and kindly report the video and not to forward or share it further," he said.

Kela tagged the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi), BSE and the Mumbai Police in his tweet.

Many of his followers thanked him for the clarification with one pointing out that, "Disruption due to AI is really scary."
