IT services major Wipro may not give hikes to "top performers with higher compensation" when the salary revisions will happen in December.
News agency Reuters, which accessed a memo sent to Wipro employees in this regard, reported that the company will be doing selective merit salary increases rollout based on its business affordability.
The company will accord priority in hikes to those with lower compensation packages who are eligible for a salary increase. "Top performers with higher compensation may not be covered in this cycle," managing partner and president of the 'Enterprise Futuring' business line of the company Nagendra Bandaru said to the employees in an internal missive.
The hike will be reflected in the salaries of employees from December 1. The IT major has as many as 2,44,707 employees as of September 30.
Wipro has been going through a lean patch in the last few quarters as clients have been penny-pinching in the wake of inflationary pressures and global economic uncertainty.
Meanwhile, the company has made it mandatory for employees to work from the office three days a week. "Recognizing the immense benefits of in-person collaboration and innovation, we are now taking the next step in our workplace policy evolution and requiring all employees to work from the office three days a week, effective 15 November 2023," the company had said.
