The much-awaited Google Pixel 8 series has been launched on Wednesday and will be available in India at a starting price of Rs 75,999.
Packing first-of-their-kind features and powered by Google Tensor G3, Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro come with several machine learning and generative AI models.
Google said it is offering seven years of software support for the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, including the latest Android operating system, security updates and ongoing Feature Drops.
These two are the first phones to launch with the new Android 14. Google said it will also extend hardware support and make parts available for seven years to match the software commitment.
Design
Both the phones are "elegantly designed with softer silhouettes, beautiful metal finishes and recycled materials," said the company.
Pixel 8 has a 6.2-inch Actua display, which is 42 per cent brighter than Pixel 7’s display. It features satin metal finishes, a polished glass back and comes in Rose, Hazel and Obsidian.
According to the company, the 6.7-inch Pixel 8 Pro features Google's brightest display yet. It has a matte glass back with a polished aluminum frame and comes in three colors: Porcelain, Bay and Obsidian.
Camera
For the photography enthusiast in you, Pixel 8 or Pixel 8 Pro could be a great fit as it features a bigger ultrawide lens, delivering great macro focus. The telephoto lens captures 56 per cent more light and takes 10x photos at optical quality, and the front-facing camera has autofocus for the selfies. The camera app has an intuitive, redesigned interface, helping you quickly find and capture content. Pixel 8 Pro offers better control over camera with settings like shutter speed, ISO, 50 MP photos throughout the zoom range and more.
Other useful features
The feature Summarize helps you generate a summary of a webpage, so you can quickly understand the key points. Pixel can even read aloud and translate webpages for you so you can listen to articles on the go.
Call Screen feature helps you receive 50 per cent fewer spam calls on average. It is smart enough to separate the calls you want from the calls you don’t.

You can now pre-order Google Pixel 8 Pro on Flipkart at Rs 1,06,999. The website offers EMI plans with HDFC credit card at Rs 17,384 a month.
