watchOS 10 and S9 SiP

Both watches will flaunt watchOS 10 and Apple S9 SiP (system in package), which is based on iPhone 13's A15 chip. This means the performance and battery life will improve. The new wearables will also get the new “double-tap” feature, based on Apple’s existing AssistiveTouch. It will help you answer calls, stop timers, play music etc by tapping the thumb and index finger together.

Display

The Apple Watch Series 9 packs in 41mm and 45mm case options and retains the always-on Retina display with up to 2,000 nits of peak brightness like the previous two versions. The Apple Watch Ultra 2 comes with a 49mm case and an improved Retina display flaunting up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness.

Battery

Apple Watch Series 9 will have a battery that lasts 18 hours on a single charge. The Ultra 2 will get a battery with the charge lasting up to 36 hours during normal use and a up to 72 hours in Low Power Mode.

Verdict

To conclude, the larger display in Apple Watch Ultra 2 will allow you to interact with it more easily when outdoors because of its long battery life and built-in 86 decibel siren that can be heard up to 600 feet or 180 metres away. Otherwise, both phones don't have any major differences and you can go for the cheaper Apple Watch Series 9.
