Foxconn to begin manufacturing of iPhones in Karnataka from next year

Factory will come up on a 300-acre land in Devanahalli, on the outskirts of Bengaluru

Foxconn, which is one of Apple’s contract manufacturers, will begin manufacturing iPhones in Karnataka y April 2024.

The state government said the land for constructing a factory will be handed over to Foxconn on July 1.

According to media reports, the Taiwanese electronics giant has invested Rs 13,600 crore for setting up the assembly unit in the state.

The factory will come up on a 300-acre land in Devanahalli, on the outskirts of Bengaluru.

Minister for large and medium industries M.B. Patil revealed that Foxconn has already paid Rs 90 crore, for the land. "The government would ensure providing 5 MLD of water, quality power supply, road connectivity and other infrastructure facilities. The company has been asked to provide the details of the skill sets it seeks in employees. Accordingly, steps will be taken to facilitate training programmes for eligible candidates to make them employable," CNBCTV18 quoted the minister as saying.

Foxconn, which already has an assembly unit in Tamil Nadu, is expected to create as many as 50,000 jobs with the opening of the new plant in Karnataka.
