Hundreds of employees of Amazon India, working in the People Experience and Technology Solutions (PXT) and Amazon Web Services (AWS) verticals of the company, will be laid off as part of the downsizing measures announced by the company in March. PXT is the human resources team of Amazon.

Amazon had, in March, said 9,000 employees of the company will be laid off. According to Business Today, the layoff is expected to affect 400-500 employees in India.

“Current layoff round was announced in March. Individuals in Indian teams have been identified now and handed pink slips,” Business Today quoted a source as saying.

Nearly 100 employees of the PXT vertical were reportedly laid off last week.

According to the Business Today report, more than 80 employees were laid off from the data management vertical of Amazon.

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy in a recent blog post had said, "We intend to eliminate about 9,000 more positions in the next few weeks — mostly in AWS, PXT, Advertising, and Twitch. This was a difficult decision, but one that we think is best for the company long term.”
