Echoing the sentiments of Wipro executive chairman Rishad Premji, Milind Lakkad, chief HR officer of TCS, called moonlighting an "ethical issue." A few days ago, Premji had called moonlighting “plain and simple cheating.”

“Moonlighting we believe is an ethical issue and it is against our TCS core values and culture in general. I am not talking about IT industry as a whole, I am talking about TCS perspective," Lakkad said.

He said the company has been communicating this to its employees.

TCS chief executive Rajesh Gopinathan said the employment contract of the company clearly states that its employees are not allowed to work for another firm.

Infosys too had recently warned its employees against moonlighting, saying the practice is a violation of the company code of conduct.

Meanwhile, TCS witnessed high number of attrition in the September quarter even as it hired 20,000 freshers in the same quarter. “We believe our quarterly annualized attrition has peaked in Q2 and should see it taper down from this point, while compensation expectations of experienced professionals moderate,” Lakkad said.

On Monday, TCS announced its earnings for the September quarter. The company beat street estimates to report 8.4 per cent rise net income at Rs 10,431 crore. The total revenue of the company grew at 18 per cent to touch Rs 54,309 crore in the period.
