Shoulder joint is one of the most mobile joints in the body. Apart from flexibility, this joint also needs strength. Here is a posture, using a pair of ropes, that helps attain both flexibility and strength. The shoulder blades, collar bone joints and chest also benefit. The exercise eases stiffness in the neck, too.
Caution: Ensure that the rope is of mountaineering quality and that the window bars are strong enough.
METHOD:
* Take a pair of mountaineering ropes, that are knotted properly and are of equal length.
* Knot the ropes on to the window bars at a height of about 6 feet; ropes must be about 1 feet apart.
* Stand upright with back to the wall and in line with the ropes.
* Hold the rope with both hands.
* Step forward and straighten the arms.
* Lift the heels up and slightly bend back taking the load on the shoulder joints.
* Keep both legs straight, pull both knee caps and tighten the buttocks.
* Stay for about 20-30 seconds.
* Slowly walk back, flex the arms and release the ropes. Relax and repeat.
