US to announce new military aid to Israel: Reports

As the Israel-Palestine battle escalates, around 1,000 deaths were reported from both sides since the Hamas attack on Saturday.

Israel Defence Forces (IDF) launched harsh airstrikes on Gaza claiming lives of around 400 people. While, Israel authorities said that they had confirmed the death of 600 people and are yet to identify several bodies. Around 1,900 people were injured in Israel, while about 1,500 in Gaza during Israel's counterattacks.

Meanwhile, Security Cabinet on Sunday officially declared that the country is at war following the deadly attack in southern Israel. With the official declaration, it formally authorises Israel of taking significant military steps.

“The war that was forced on the State of Israel in a murderous terrorist assault from the Gaza Strip began at 06:00 yesterday,” read the statement.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had earlier declared the country at war and the military also promised harsh response in Gaza.

With several persons gone missing, Israel had opened a missing person command center. More than 20 Israeli communities near Gaza are being evacuated. Also, Poland is sending military planes to evacuate citizens from Israel.

Ali Shamkhani, the political adviser to Iran's supreme leader, said in a post on X that the Hamas attack was a decisive, unique and effective operation that was a legitimate defense against the Israeli government. The Palestinian resistance is a mature and independent movement whose power comes from widespread public support, he added.

Meanwhile, German Chancellor OIaf Scholz said he spoke with PM Netanyahu and assured him that Israel's security is a cornerstone of German policy. He said he will support Egypt's efforts to mediate and de-escalate situations between Israel-Palestine.

Japan's Prime Minister Fumio Kishida had condemned the Hamas attack and urged all parties to use restraint. Taking to X, Kishida said that Japan strongly condemns the attacks which severely harmed innocent civilians.

South Korea's Foreign Ministry also said it strongly condemns the indiscriminate attacks on Israel from Gaza.

United States has extended its full support to Israel. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that the focus now is on helping Israel recover the territory that has been taken by Hamas militants.

The issue of intelligence failure would be probed later, Bliken added.

Indians safe in Israel and Gaza

Amid the escalating tensions in the region, Indian nationals in Israel and Gaza are safe, said authorities.

According to PTI, there are about 18,000 Indian nationals living and working in Israel and so far there have been no untoward incidents reported involving them.

Indian embassy has received several requests from Indian tourists stranded in the country to facilitate their exit.

There were also reports that 11 Nepalese students in Israel had gone missing after the attack. According to Foreign Minister N. P. Saud four Nepalese students have been injured and 11 went missing.

There were 17 Nepalese students in Kibbutz Alumim in southern Israel, under the learn and earn programme, reported PTI.
