Wait-listed on Rajdhani? Upgrade your train ticket and fly Air India

Have you had to cancel your much important trips after your wait-listed tickets on Rajdhani train was not confirmed by the journey time? You have a good news from the Railways.

The IRCTC and national carrier Air India have joined hands to make arrangements for helping out the wait-listed passengers of Rajdhani trains. As per the plan, which is expected to be in place within a week, wait-listed train passengers will be provided with the option to fly by Air India.

Air India tickets would be offered to such passengers through IRCTC.

Air India Chairman Ashwani Lohani said AC first class train tickets will be upgraded to air tickets with out paying any additional amount. However, Second and Third AC class passengers will have to pay upto Rs 2,000 for the upgrading.

The upgrading of tickets, however, will depend on the flight route and availability of seats on the airline.

Apart from giving relief to the train passengers, the move is also expected to help Air India in filling up more seats on its planes amid the carrier working on ways to turnaround its fortunes.
