73 file nominations for Himachal polls on day 4

As many as 73 candidates filed their nominations for the November 9 Himachal Pradesh Assembly polls on the fourth day of filing papers, taking the total number of nominations filed so far to 100.

Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh (Arki), state Health Minister Kaul Singh (Drang), Agriculture Minister Sujan Singh Pathania (Fatehpur), Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Col Dhai Ram Shandil (Solan) and former speakers of the assembly Gulab Singh (Jogindernagar) and Gangu Ram Musafir (Pachhad) were among those who filed their nominations today.

As many as 25 Independents also entered the fray and over a dozen sitting MLAs and former ministers and MLAs also filed their nominations.

The last date for filing nominations is October 23, scrutiny of the papers will be taken up on October 24 and the last date for withdrawal is October 26.
