In what comes as a setback for the Congress, the Supreme Court said it won't stop Manohar Parrikar from taking oath as the chief minister of Goa. The swearing-in ceremony is slated to be held in Panaji at 5 pm on Tuesday.

Hearing a petition by the Congress challenging the appointment of Parrikar as CM, the apex court ordered a floor test in the state assembly on Thursday. The SC also asked the BJP to prove the majority in the House.

Further, the court asked the Congress if it has the numbers to prove the majority in the house.

The apex court directed that all pre-requisites for holding floor test be completed by Wednesday including the formalities required by Election Commission, the PTI reported
