The Mumbai police is leaving no stone unturned in the investigation into the death of TV actress Pratyusha Banerjee, who allegedly killed herself on Friday. In a latest development, the officials have detained her boyfriend, Rahul Singh for questioning.
Although, the case is a prima facie suicide, police are not ruling out the possibility of a foul play in her death.
According to reports, her eyes or tongue had not popped out as she was suspected to have committed suicide by hanging herself. Meanwhile, police have reportedly found a faint rope mark on her neck, her left cheek was bruised and had blood coming out of her mouth. These are the key observations, which are currently being investigated.
Authorities are awaiting the autopsy report to understand the cause of her death, which will help them in narrowing down their investigation. In the meantime, they have detained her boyfriend Rahul, who took her to the Kokilaben Hospital in Andheri.
Pratyusha and Rahul were going through a rough patch in their relationship recently.
The 24-year-old allegedly hanged herself from a fan at her Kandivali residence but was detected and taken to the Kokilaben Ambani Hospital where she was declared dead.
Her friends and colleagues in the industry have been expressing condolence and shock over her death, Many said they were not able to believe that Pratyusha would take such a drastic step.
"This can't be suicide. She was a strong girl she can't commit suicide. I feel this is murder and if this is suicide then she was forced to commit suicide. This has happened because of her love life,” said her friend Ajaz Khan.
"She had stopped meeting her friends also because he (her boyfriend) didn't like it. When I had met the guy, I had told Pratyusha that you are a beautiful girl please be careful... I met her a couple of days ago and she was fine. So now suddenly suicide! There's obviously something fishy," Khan, a Bigg Boss 7 contestant, told PTI.
"She was a very lively girl. Pratyusha was a very dear friend so I know suicide is not possible," her co-actor Jay Bhanushali said.
Hailing from Jharkhand, Pratyusha catapulted to fame with her role in Balika Vadhu between 2010-2013.
She was later seen in the reality dance show Jhalak Dikhla Jaa 5, Bigg Boss 7 and hosted some episodes of Savdhan India. She recently appeared in Sasural Simar Ka.
