Srinagar, Nov 6 (PTI) Two houses were damaged in a fire that erupted in the Batamaloo locality of Srinagar, officials said on Friday.

No loss of life or injuries were reported in the incident. Srinagar Police, in close coordination with fire and emergency services, carried out a swift rescue and evacuation operation following the incident.

A fire broke out in a house late Thursday night, and it spread to a neighbouring house before it was doused by the fire and emergency services. The cause of the fire is believed to be a short circuit, they said.

Immediately upon receiving information, police teams of Batamaloo rushed to the spot and actively assisted Fire and Emergency Services in rescue operations, evacuation of civilians, securing the affected area, crowd management and facilitating unhindered movement of fire tenders, the officials said.

Despite the intensity of the blaze, police personnel remained actively engaged on the ground, ensuring public safety and extending all necessary assistance to emergency response teams, they said.
