Patna, Nov 5 (PTI) The Bihar government has transferred Khagaria Superintendent of Police (SP) Bhanu Pratap Singh amid allegations of harassment levelled against him by his wife.

According to an order issued by the Home Department on Wednesday, Singh, a 2021-batch IPS officer, has been transferred to the police headquarters.

Sheohar SP Shailendra Singh has been directed to take charge as Khagaria SP.

Patna Police had on November 11 received a complaint from Singh's wife, Pooja Singh, who accused her husband and in-laws of harassment.

She lodged the complaint at the Mahila police station under the Sachivalaya police station in Patna.

A couple of days ago, Pooja Singh staged a sit-in outside the chief minister's residence, alleging that her husband was preventing her from speaking to their six-year-old daughter.

She claimed that she married Bhanu Pratap Singh in 2016, when he was an unemployed civil services aspirant.

"I do not want a divorce. I want to make a fresh start with my husband and daughter. If he is willing to reason things out, I am ready to withdraw my police complaint," she told reporters.

She also claimed to have met Bihar Director General of Police (DGP) Preeta Verma in connection with the matter.

Bhanu Pratap Singh was not immediately available for comment.
