Chandigarh, Nov 3 (PTI) Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and party president Mallikarjun Kharge will participate in the 'Insaaf Rally' scheduled to be held in Punjab's Sangrur on November 4, state unit president Pargat Singh said on Tuesday.

According to the Punjab Congress leaders, the rally would mark the launch of the party's poll campaign for the 2027 assembly polls.

Singh claimed that it was being organised to raise a strong voice for Punjab's rights, justice and a brighter future, adding that the state is currently facing several major challenges.

He said the Congress party has consistently stood by the people of Punjab and has continued to fight for the protection of their constitutional and democratic rights.

The Sangrur rally will provide an important platform to take the concerns and demands of Punjab's people to the national level, he said in a statement.

The PPCC president further said several senior Congress leaders, party office-bearers, workers and a large number of supporters are expected to attend the gathering.

The announcement of Kharge and Gandhi's participation has generated considerable enthusiasm among party workers, who are preparing for a large turnout, the Jalandhar Cantt MLA said.

Appealing to Congress workers and the people of Punjab to participate in the rally in large numbers, Singh said the November 4 gathering would send a powerful message from the soil of Sangrur in support of justice, the rights of Punjab and a better future for the state.

Senior party leaders, including Congress general secretary and Punjab in-charge Sachin Pilot, have been visiting the venue at Phagguwala village in Sangrur to review arrangements for the rally.

Pilot said on X that the people of Punjab are distressed by drugs, crime, gangsterism, unemployment and the "deteriorating' law and order situation under the AAP government.

In this backdrop, Gandhi's visit will be significant in raising the voice of the people and instilling a new hope for change in Punjab, he said.
