Latur, Oct 29 (PTI) A gramsevak was arrested while accepting a bribe of Rs 3,500 to update records concerning a house in Maharashtra’s Latur district, Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials have said.

Accused Sulochana Govind Dhobale (46) is posted in Kasaragaon village in Latur tehsil.

The ACB said a man had submitted the relevant documents at the Kasaragaon gram panchayat office on October 21 to record the purchase of a house by him. When the complainant approached Dhobale to complete the record entry process, she allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 3,500.

Following the complaint, the ACB verified the demand and laid a trap on Wednesday at the canteen on the premises of the Latur Panchayat Samiti office. The accused was caught red-handed after she accepted the amount, the anti-graft agency said.

A case has been registered against Dhobale at Shivajinagar police station in Latur under the Prevention of Corruption Act, it added.
