Heatwave conditions likely in parts of Rajasthan Thursday onwards MeT

Jaipur, Apr 21 (PTI) Rajasthan reeled under intense heat conditions on Tuesday with above-normal maximum temperatures recorded at several places, a MeT official said.
     The weather department has cautioned of heatwave conditions in parts of the state Thursday onwards.
     According to the Meteorological Centre, Jaipur, the weather remained dry across the state during the 24 hours till Tuesday morning.
     The highest maximum temperature was recorded at 42 degrees Celsius in Kota. Maximum temperatures in cities including Jaipur, Udaipur, Jodhpur and Bikaner were above normal, the department said.
     The weather office said conditions are likely to remain generally dry across the state over the next two days.
     It has issued a alert for heatwave conditions in several districts, including Sri Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, Jhunjhunu, Bharatpur and Dholpur, from April 23.
     The prevailing heat has also affected normal life, with roads and markets deserted during afternoons and people stepping out only for essential work, officials said.
